Introduction
The Energy Resources Research laboratory at Oregon State University is continuing to accept applications to participate in an Anemometer Loan Program for the customers of Pacific Power and Portland General Electric in the state of Oregon. The program is designed to spur small scale and community wind energy development in the state of Oregon by helping potential wind turbine users quantify their wind resource. The nation's first anemometer loan program was established in 1978 at Oregon State University funded by the Oregon Department of Energy with equipment being furnished by the Bonneville Power Administration. About 45 sites in Oregon were investigated during its four year's of operation.
The current program is designed to find and characterize possible wind development locations for small wind turbines and community wind projects.
Program

** Note: Due to recent changes in the program we will no longer be accepting applications. Please contact the Energy Trust of Oregon for more information. Our web site will be updated soon. (09/1007)
Under a contract from the Energy Trust of Oregon, the ERRL has purchased several wind-measuring anemometer (an-e-mom-e-ter) systems that it began loaning out during the first year of the program. After an initial screening process, these systems will be loaned to land owners giving them the opportunity to measure their available wind energy resource while providing wind data to Oregon. ERRL will be responsible for receiving applications of interested participants in the program, selecting which sites are most appropriate for the wind energy study, distribution and installation of the anemometers, and gathering and processing the data. The Energy Trust of Oregon will work with ERRL in the selection process. The systems are to be loaned for a period of one year.
Who is eligable? - Individuals, buisnesses, farmers, ranchers, municiple governments, school districts; basically any customer of Portland General Electric or Pacific Power in the state of Oregon.
Applications may be submitted on a continuing basis and will be considered as systems remain. After this, applications will be retained in anticipation of a renewal of the program.
