In this report, the wind data collected during 1993 from seven long-term RAWS sites is assessed and summarized. The seven sites were chosen from over 600 sites because of their potential for use in monitoring the long-term wind conditions in regions of the Pacific Northwest where data is sparse. An assessment of the data shows that data recovery was much worse at nearly every site than during previous years. A systematic problem with the data collection or archival system is suspected because of the nature of the missing data and the periods of uniform poor data recovery at a number of sites. The poor data recovery makes a determination of the wind conditions for the year difficult.
